Chrome Love

What is it about chrome? It's sleek, shiny and sexy. Chrome. Only chrome can mix organic with hard lines and have the end result look hot.
Imagine the grill of a '53 Buick truck - looks like waves or teeth. Now imagine that in gold or a flat color. Turns your stomach doesn't it? Chrome *is* sex appeal. It picks up the light and lures it into form. Chrome is smooth and hard at the same time. Chrome makes objects seem bigger, stronger, more important. Chrome is a strange fascination for me. Whenever I see chrome I want to touch it. I want to run my hands along it, but to touch it leaves it oily and smudged. It loses some of its beauty. Perhaps that is one of the reasons I like chrome so much. For me, to touch chrome is forbidden.
Once you touch it the light line that is reflected in it becomes fractured. The hardness and the cool distantness of the chrome soften. Maybe it is the beauty of an undisturbed line of light that gives definition to the form on a chromed object, kinda like an automatic built in racing stripe.
Chrome has the ability to take on many temperatures - cool and hard, hot and singeing, or just warm to the touch. I like the way cold chrome quickly warms to body heat. Perhaps I find chrome so sexy because it absorbs two of my favorite senses: sight and touch.
Well for me, you can take the chrome out of the girl, but you can't take the girl away from the chrome.
Go polish your fins, grrls.
